For exterior Design. first, I performed the layout build in maya. I came up with three different versions, the first one has a layout centered on a small pavilion, a gate connecting this pavilion to the main building – the restaurant – via a stone bridge, and two identical towers on either side of the main building, and a promenade running from the gate to these two towers. But then the pavilion becomes the main building, and from the viewpoint of the gate, the pavilion obscures the main building. In the second version, I turned the pavilion in the center into a stage, with the restaurant to the side and smaller pavilions in each corner. But this layout is a bit cluttered and doesn’t highlight the location of the main building and has too many similar building-pavilions. The last one is more simple and clear compared to the other two, and also conforms to the symmetry of ancient Chinese architecture, which is more suitable for my design of this project and more in line with the characteristics of Chinese architecture, so I chose the third version as the layout of the whole scene.

Version 3 Details
After building the 3D layout, I made some details on the original simple model and drew a black and white draft according to the perspective of the 3D model. At the center of the entire exterior is a pond with a bridge from the gate to the main building. In addition, there will be some flowers and trees in the whole scene. And the final render is a night scene, so I added some highlights to my atmosphere map as the light of the night lantern. Drawing an atmosphere map may seem simple, but in fact there is a lot of knowledge in it. In my previous projects, I didn’t get into the habit of drawing drafts of black and white scenes, which led to a lot of problems in the 3D modeling process, such as the size of the space, the proportions of the building, the overall atmosphere, and so on. This time, in the process of drawing the atmosphere map, I added a lot of ideas to improve my whole scene, so the sketch of the scene is a very key step, which can make me more accurate and visual in the next design.
Next, I started drawing the concept for the pub. This was my first time to draw an ancient Chinese style building, and there were some proportions and items I didn’t draw correctly, so the whole design took six hours in total, which was rather long. In the middle of the process, I also chose the roof, modified the scale and made a lot of references.
Analysis-How to Combine the Cyberpunk and Chinese style
I think “Chinese Cyber” is based on the ancient Chinese architecture, adding the cyberpunk sense of mechanics and futuristic sci-fi. Cyberpunk, the origin of the film and television style is Blade Runner 2049, set in Tokyo and Hong Kong, and Kowloon Walled City was once a cyberpunk destination. So what exactly is cyberpunk? In terms of the history of science fiction, it is the story of “cyborgs pushed to their limits”. Cyborgs, also known as human-machine combinations, are mainly the result of scientists’ attempts to adapt the human body to extreme environments such as outer space starting in the 1960s. However, until Cyberpunk, Cyborgs mainly modified only human organs, while Cyberpunk requires the modification of the brain – this modification is not only the enhancement of the ability of a single individual, but also the connection between the brains of different individuals. Cyberpunk’s most crucial element, “cyberspace”, emerged under such circumstances. What about “cyberspace”? In reality, the Internet can be understood as a low-level version of Cyberspace. Many cyberpunk novels often have such a logic – human body modification is to spend money, have this money are RoboCop in the head of the kind of big business/military industrial complex to replace the function of the government, they transformed the human body is to use the human as a tool, and in the end will be Cyber space will be reversed thousand off. The narrative logic of cyberpunk writers is largely inherited from their predecessors. In their writing, cyberspace is highly capitalised and commodified. The human brain is being information technology. Linked together, this space is mainly used to make money for capitalists. The protagonists of the novels are always hackers because their mastery of the technology allows them to still have a sliver of space to roam beyond the reach of capital. The most typical work is Gibson’s Bionic Swarms. This work can be regarded as a typical “debut is the peak”, of which there are many points that can be said, only one is emphasised here: the pervasiveness of capital is very much emphasised in the novel. It is the first part of the “Sprawl Trilogy”. Sprawl refers to the infinite expansion of big cities, just like the vines of plants that eventually connect with each other, so that the suburbs and green areas between cities no longer exist, and the cities under the control of capital become the “natural environment” for human survival. The city under the control of capital becomes the “natural environment” of human existence. This is the outside of the human body, and the inside of the human body is the cyberspace mentioned earlier. In such a dominant logic of capital, individual human beings become screws in a big machine. Cyberpunk recognises this, and is different from previous science fiction, including the new space opera novels that were just re-emerging at the time, in which the protagonists, even if they have mastered god-like technology, are in reality retiring, nerdy, living on the edge of life, and “anti-heroes” – that is, “high-tech” – and “anti-heroes” – that is to say, “anti-heroes” – in the sense of “high-tech”. High-tech, low-life”.
So in terms of art style, to a great extent and its background has a significant connection, that is, the rich area of the building through the sky, the display of the building is full of technology, there will be a lot of biotouch screen, walk wherever you go with the virtual screen, etc., while the ordinary people’s area, the dilapidated streets mixed with neon lights to highlight the sense of sci-fi, and the streets cluttered with expensive technology tuning car parking. In addition to the characters, the rich people will modify their bodies to the extreme, installing all kinds of prosthetics to maximise their energy, and they will also be able to reach the state of immortality because of these expensive prosthetic machines. And the life of the poor in addition to theft and robbery, but also to face the birth of a variety of disasters, and the prosthetic body on their body is also mostly from the rich don’t want the latter informal channels to get, and its degree of disrepair is huge.
Cyberpunk style described, modern and crowded, technologically advanced but produced social conflicts in the background was originally suitable for China, so in combination with the production do not have to pursue a special Chinese localisation expression. China’s ancient architecture is more dignified and elegant, and its integration process, I will not take the feeling of dilapidation as the main style, but from the point of view of the rich to depict the world of cyberpunk, the life of the lights and greenery.
I think a “Chinese Cyber” style building must first look very grand, it doesn’t need to be particularly tall, but it must have a large footprint. In ancient China, people would usually go to sleep very early because there was no popularity of lights, and the combination of houses with cyber can be lit up at night, which can be quite like the feeling of the Tang Dynasty’s never-ending city.

Big Fish & Begonia-film-architecture background and red
Tujia Lou in Fujian, China
Big Fish Begonia presents a magical story that is inspired by ancient legends, incorporating strong elements of Chinese culture and creating a unique fantasy world. Set against the backdrop of myths and legends, it tells stories about the cycle of life and death, fate and love. The main scenes of the film are based on the Tujia Lou in Fujian, China, and it also contains a lot of traditional Chinese architectural elements. This film was the initial inspiration I wanted to do about Chinese-style scenes.
Legend of the Demon Cat– film-Scenes colors and culture
The Legend of the Demon Cat is a costume fantasy suspense drama film co-produced by China and Japan directed by Chen Kaige. Adapted from the magical historical novel Shamen Kukai: The Great Tang Ghost Banquet by Japanese writer Yumei Yumei. There are many grand scenes in The Legend of the Demon Cat, in order to show the gorgeous splendor of the Kaiyuan era, warm colors are used as the benchmark, and a large number of colors similar to Dunhuang murals, such as gold, vermilion, ochre, etc., are used, reflecting the luxurious and extravagant colors. In antique photography, the heavy color combination of gold and vermilion will also make the photo present a gorgeous and noble feeling, and the whole picture will immediately become majestic.
The use of history and culture.
The banquet of bliss in the movie, from the color, at first glance, will feel that it is a red and green color bombardment, but in fact, this color relationship comes from the traditional Chinese green landscape and golden landscape, the most famous green landscape painting, everyone must know “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains”. As for the red dress worn by Yang Yuhuan, it is not red, in order to make the transition between red and turquoise, Yang Yuhuan’s red dress has a large number of decorative colors to weaken the conflict between the two colors. The green base of the mountain also has the outline of gold threads and gold dots to coordinate the color relationship.

The tone and color expression of this film are relatively unified in the cyberpunk modern city, and its concept settings have been more diversified in the film screen. Cyberpunk 2077-Game-world-setting
Cyberpunk 2077 is a role-playing game. Its game world is very open, and the environment of players is more technological, and players are sometimes in the real game world. Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in Night City, where power changes and body modifications are constant themes. Players take on the role of an ambitious mercenary: V, in search of a one-of-a-kind implant – the key to immortality. Customize character prosthetics, skills, and gameplay to explore an all-encompassing city. The choices players make will also have an impact on the story and the world around them.

Before I did the texture, I created a plan for the texture of the character, which included its material and how it would be painted etc. Since my 3d model has some minor changes to the 2d drawing, such as her belt and headpiece, the texture of these areas will be different from the original material.
The whole character is coloured in blue, at first I added the base colour and then slowly added details such as the gold stripes around the dress, all of which I drew by hand. The eyebrows and eyes are from the mapping image, while the rest of the make-up, such as lipstick, eye shadow and grooming, are drawn by me. For the costume, the armour is made from Iron rough, the boots are made from leather bag and the body is made from leather big grain, I also added some tears and a glowing material on the breastplate.
After the rough model of the whole figure was built, I added some further details and hard surface topography. Firstly, the chest armour, which I divided into 3 large pieces and adjusted the position with the move brush.
Next came the belt area, which I still made hard-surfaced using the topology and masking tools. In the arm and leg areas I added small mech details, using the sphere and polish, move brushes to finish.
Finally making the hair, I repainted a new hair using the hair brush, although some of the ends look a little stiff and draggy, this is my fourth attempt and I am satisfied that the end result is as it is and that the top hair seam is well hidden.
Finally, a full body detailing
About the hair accessories,I have made changes to the original 2D drawing, I have made the feathers fuller and more three-dimensional, and I have reduced the size of the original pendant cord.
